CHICAGO - Two new digital x-ray units share the spotlight at Swissray International's RSNA conference booth. The products represent the company's recent efforts to broaden its digital x-ray offerings, which are based on charged-coupled device (CCD) technology.

The new products are ddRChest-System, a dedicated chest unit, and ddRCombi, a ceiling-suspended system targeted at trauma applications. Swissray already sells ddR Multi-System, a multifunctional digital x-ray unit.

The new products have similar specifications: Both feature 5-megapixel resolution, a SwissVision image processing workstation, and image display within seconds of acquisition. Both products also support the DICOM 3.0 connectivity standard.

Swissray has been successful in selling ddR Multi-Systems this year, with the installed base surpassing 60 units, a number that includes the sale of 32 systems to the Romanian government in October.
