In this talk from's 2020 Virtual Conference, Dr. Erik Ranschaert, PhD, discusses how artificial intelligence (AI) could be employed in the fight against COVID-19. He provides a brief introduction to AI and the role of AI in COVID-19 detection and discusses how European internet privacy rules could hinder the development of effective strategies.

Ranschaert is a radiologist and AI project leader at Elisabeth-TweeSteden Hospital (ETZ) in the Netherlands. He is also president of the European Society of Medical Imaging Informatics (EuSoMII).
