Konica Minolta debuts wireless DR unit

Konica Minolta Medical & Graphic said that it has developed a wireless digital radiography (DR) system.

The cassette-sized system, which is pending U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance, employs a flat-panel detector with a cesium iodide (CsI) scintillator. Offering the same dimensions as a 14 x 17-inch film cassette, the detector can fit into an existing wall stand or table bucky tray without modifications, according to the Tokyo-based firm.

It includes Konica Minolta's image processing technology and incorporates a battery design intended to yield extended battery life and a short charge cycle, the company said. The system weighs 6.6 lb.

In addition, the system will be able to share an operation console with a new or existing Konica Minolta Regius computed radiography (CR) system.
