Riverview Hospital finds success in IT transformation

Five years ago, Riverview Hospital in Indiana had reached a crossroads. The 170-bed facility was facing stiff competition from three major area hospitals. Its existing information technology was adequate but far from the capabilities that would be needed in the future to maintain an edge over the nearby facilities. The hospital embarked on a plan to transform itself into a state-of-the-art IT healthcare operation. Randy Cox, Riverview's chief information officer, recently discussed the challenges and successes of the hospital's transformation.
