Spanish study finds speech recognition saves time, money

A large study of speech recognition that included nearly 140,000 reports has confirmed the technology's ability to dramatically reduce report turnaround time while saving money. Researchers found that speech recognition slashed turnaround time from about 5.5 hours with conventional transcription to just over one hour.

Survey fails to find outcomes benefit for electronic records

How effective are electronic health record (EHR) systems in improving the efficiency and quality of healthcare services in U.S. hospitals? Right now, not very -- at least according to a study of nearly 3,000 hospitals that found that EHR systems minimally affected several types of outcomes measures.
