
Artificial intelligence software developer Viz.ai has launched an application designed to identify brain abnormalities in images of patients and use that information for placement in clinical trials.
Powered by artificial intelligence, the company's Viz Recruit software automatically detects conditions such as hemorrhage and tumors in patients across a health system and communicates their status to investigators and research teams, according to the company. This has the potential to accelerate patient enrollment and substantially reduce costs, Viz.ai said.
The software has been deployed successfully in a study by medical instruments manufacturer NICO of minimally invasive hematoma extraction in patients with intracranial hemorrhage.
Viz.ai markets a range of software products designed to improve workflow related to radiographic images, including Viz LVO for computer-aided triage and notification and Viz CTP for automated cerebral perfusion image analysis. The U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services granted reimbursement to Viz LVO through a new technology add-on payment in September.
