Teleradiology provider Virtual Radiologic (vRad), a subsidiary of national medical group Mednax, has secured its 18th patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Patent No. 9,846,938, "Medical Evaluation Machine Learning Workflows and Processes," covers methods for applying artificial intelligence to radiology workflows. For example, if a computer model finds that radiology images in line for interpretation contain features associated with high-risk medical conditions (such as an intracranial hemorrhage or pulmonary embolism), the images are assigned to the specialist best suited to interpret them, vRad said.
