Kodak completes CAD acquisition

Eastman Kodak Health Imaging has purchased computer-aided detection (CAD) technology from medical application developer MiraMedica of Los Gatos, CA.

Kodak paid an undisclosed sum for the technology. To support it, and to accelerate and lead other CAD development at Kodak, a number of MiraMedica employees will join Kodak’s Health Imaging group, according to the Rochester, NY-based firm.

Caren Mason, MiraMedica president and chief executive officer will serve as a business consultant during the transition. Wido Menhardt, MiraMedica’s chief technology officer, will become general manager of CAD operations at Kodak.

Kodak said it will offer CAD software as a standalone product and as a component of its digital capture and image-and-information management systems.
