(Ultrasound Review) Color Doppler cannot be used to differentiate benign and malignant solid thyroid nodules, according to radiologists at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. However, they demonstrated that 42% of solid hypervascular thyroid nodules are likely to be malignant.

Study questions predictive value of standard short-term follow-up for breast imaging

Dr. Shagufta Yasmeen from the University of California, Davis and colleagues looked at 2,957 mammograms for which a short-interval follow-up was recommended. Their concern was that "early recall for follow-up testing on screening mammography causes anxiety, psychological morbidity, and increased healthcare utilization in the year after a false-positive mammogram is reported."
