Reduced breast cancer screening ups mortality risk in older women

Older women with an extended period of time between their last mammogram and breast cancer diagnosis have an increased risk of death from the disease, according to data presented at the American Association for Cancer Research meeting in Washington, DC. The findings suggest a role for continued screening among women older than 75.

Imaging centers hit with surprise 30% cut for MRI codes

The American Taxpayer Relief Act in January averted the planned 26.5% cut to the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule, but it didn't prevent reimbursement for two "bread and butter" MRI codes from being slashed by 30%. Some freestanding imaging centers are only now becoming painfully aware of the cut.
