Cheaper UAE edges out hysterectomy for uterine fibroid treatment

In contrast with hysterectomy or myomectomy, uterine artery embolization does not require open surgery or general anesthesia, so the risk to the patient is considerably less. A paper presented at the 2002 RSNA meeting in Chicago highlighted another advantage of UAE: It’s a more cost-effective treatment for uterine fibroids than hysterectomy.
