CAD interval change analysis boosts mammogram accuracy
By
Erik L. Ridley
Computer-aided detection (CAD) technology with an interval change classifier can improve the accuracy of radiologists in differentiating between benign and malignant breast lesions, according to an article in

Breast CAD takes aim at architectural distortion
By
Eric Barnes
OSAKA - Researchers from Japan and Canada discussed their prototype CAD systems for detecting and evaluating architectural distortions on mammograms at the Computer Assisted Radiology and Surgery (CARS) meeting on Thursday. Enhancing breast positioning, tissue acquisition with cushioning pad
The amount of breast tissue captured in a mammogram can make a crucial difference in detecting breast cancer. Yet tissue acquisition frequently is less than optimal. Using a cushioning pad in combination with breast positioning training for technologists can improve breast positioning and tissue acquisition.

Breast CAD put to the test in high-volume community practice
By
Jonathan S. Batchelor
Computer-aided detection (CAD) for mammography has demonstrated its utility in a number of studies since its introduction in 1998. In what may be the largest test for the technology to date, radiologists at a hospital-based community practice in San Francisco used CAD in more than 100,000 consecutive screening mammograms at a single site over a period of 46 months.
