US study finds pioglitazone slows carotid thickening in type 2 diabetes

CHICAGO - Using high-resolution B-mode ultrasound, researchers found that the drug pioglitazone helped prevent carotid artery wall thickening in patients with type 2 diabetes better than the comparative drug glimepiride.
