Automated fetal biometry measurements compare well with measurements performed by sonographers, according to research presented at the recent American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) annual meeting. Handheld ultrasound performs well in ob/gyn applications

SAN DIEGO - A handheld ultrasound system can perform well for some limited ob/gyn ultrasound indications, according to a study presented Thursday at the 2008 American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) meeting. Researchers from Hawaii compared the findings from patients scanned with a handheld US exam with those from formal US exams, and found that the results were identical for many ob/gyn indications.
