Siemens debuts new Acuson S2000 release

Siemens Healthcare has introduced release 2.0 of its Acuson S2000 ultrasound system.

The new version incorporates advanced applications such as its work-in-progress Virtual Touch HD technology, the second generation of its work-in-progress Acoustic Radiation Forced Impulse (ARFI) imaging technique, and its Cadence contrast agent technology, according to the Malvern, PA-based vendor. It also includes 3D/4D imaging capabilities.

The new Acuson S2000 scanner can handle general imaging, obstetrics and gynecology, and vascular and cardiac imaging, Siemens said.

In tissue strain analytics developments, Siemens said that its Virtual Touch Tissue Imaging and Virtual Touch Tissue Quantification techniques have been optimized to perform in high definition. Enhanced functionality of eSie Touch elasticity imaging has also been integrated, Siemens said.

Version 2.0 also includes advances in Cadence contrast pulse sequencing technology, allowing for increased detection and display of contrast agents. In addition, the system's Dynamic TCE contrast enhancement technology features a new algorithm that provides advanced speckle reduction and enhanced contrast resolution, Siemens said.

HD Zoom allows for magnifying the region of interest. In advanced visualization upgrades, Acuson S2000 utilizes the firm's enhanced fourSight technology for volumetric acquisition, data rendering, and postprocessing of fetal imaging, Siemens said.

The new release also includes Skeletal Rendering, a 3D rendering technique for visualizing the fetal spine and long bones. Amnioscopic Rendering provides surface rendering of the fetus, while a Fetal Heart Spatio-Temporal Image Correlation (STIC) imaging technique creates a 3D fetal heart volume for viewing the heart in multiple planes, according to the vendor.

Workflow enhancements have also been incorporated in release 2.0, including a Live Dual Display feature that allows for simultaneous display of B-mode and color Doppler images with the push of a button, Siemens said.
