VC shows advantage for recurrent rectal cancer surveillance

A recently published study that followed 434 rectal cancer patients with virtual colonoscopy and colonoscopy found that VC was 100% sensitive for detecting recurrent cancer, catching a few cases that were negative or indeterminate on optical colonoscopy, but also producing a few indeterminate results that were in fact negative.

It is a common complication in patients who have undergone radiation treatment for cervical cancer. VIENNA - When breast computer-aided detection (CAD) software took a second look at mammograms containing a malignancy, it found most of the cancers radiologists had missed until they detected it in a later exam, according to a study presented at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR). In some cases, CAD found cancers that weren't detected until three to four years later.
