That was the question that multiple speakers set out to answer in a symposium at last week's American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) meeting. PET changes oncology management, study shows

A multisite study in Australia has found that PET results can change treatment plans for cancer patients, as the modality provides more information on the extent, recurrence, and progression of the disease. The Australian PET Data Collection Project has collected data on whether the modality changed the management of patients with different types of cancer, such as ovarian cancer, metastatic melanoma, and colorectral cancer.
