ACC study: Lantheus PET tracer shows promise

A new study presented at this week's American College of Cardiology (ACC) meeting has found that a novel PET tracer being developed by Lantheus Medical Imaging is clinically safe, has acceptable dosimetry, and has a high myocardial uptake at rest that significantly increases with adenosine stress.

ORLANDO - At a time of rising concerns about the overuse of medical imaging, researchers at the American College of Cardiology (ACC) annual meeting report that most nuclear cardiac scans are performed for appropriate indications. On the other hand, the highest percentage of inappropriate SPECT scans was performed in patients at low risk of heart disease.
