Schaef to launch DR panel at RSNA show

German radiology firm Schaef Systemtechnik plans to launch a new digital radiography (DR) flat-panel detector at the upcoming RSNA show in Chicago.

Schaef said its DRF A 4343 product is a 17 x 17-inch panel based on amorphous silicon technology. The company is touting the offering as a green product due to advances in manufacturing made by the firm that supplies the panel to Schaef.

Schaef's supplier has reduced carbon emissions during the panel manufacturing process, and has offset the rest. In addition, Schaef said the carbon emissions produced while operating the panel, primarily electrical power generation, will "be compensated for."

DRF A 4343 is designed to work with new or existing x-ray systems and has a resolution of 9.4 million pixels. The company will highlight the panel at the upcoming RSNA show in Chicago.
