Imaging software developer Medic Vision of Haifa, Israel, announced the launch of its SafeCT software at this year's RSNA show in Chicago.
SafeCT is based on the company's GiRR3D (generic iterative retro reconstruction in 3D) image reconstruction algorithm.
The software is designed to enhance low-dose CT images by reducing the signal-to-noise ratio, to reduce exam dose while maintaining diagnostic image quality. It is compatible with most major CT platforms and PACS, according to the company.
Considered an add-on system, SafeCT is designed to enable existing scanners to be used rather than requiring purchase of a new CT scanner with dose-reduction capabilities.
The system has been clinically validated in leading medical centers in Israel, has been received the CE Mark in Europe, and is expected to receive clearance by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) by the end of this year, Medic Vision said.
