Ariba gets funding for portable dental x-ray

Portable x-ray developer Ariba X-ray of Orem, UT, has received investment capital from Campbell Scientific of Logan, UT, to develop and commercialize its Nomad handheld battery-powered x-ray system for intraoral imaging.

The device weighs about 8 lb (3.6 kg), and is powered by a rechargeable battery pack. It was recently used by Royal Thai Police forensic dentists in the aftermath of the recent South Asian tsunami, the company said.
