Hyalinizing Granuloma
- Clinical:
Hyalinizing granuloma is an idiopathic condition that manifests with pulmonary nodules and masses that show concentric hyaline lamellae [1]. Several mechanisms have been proposed, including atypical immune response to mycobacterial or fungal antigens or burned out myofibroblastic tumors [1]. Affected patients are usually asymptomatic or can present with vague chest-related symptoms such as SOB, cough, fatigue, low grade fever, or pleuritic chest pain [1].- X-ray:
Radiographs demonstrate bilateral large nodules or masses, which
on CT tend to be randomly distributed and often contain calcium
[1]. Pleural effusions and adenopathy are rare [1].
