Advanced visualization firm TeraRecon of San Mateo, CA, launched a conebeam CT system for dental imaging as a work-in-progress at this week's American Dental Association meeting in Las Vegas.
The company's Dental Cone Beam CT (CBCT) system is based on the firm's Xtrillion image processing technology, and produces high-resolution 3D images with 20-second scan times. The unit employs a flat-panel digital detector and image processing engine capable of processing 1,024 images per rotation.
The system is targeted at dental practices that seek to perform in-office surgical implant procedures. The system comes bundled with dental surgical planning software including SimPlant, ILS, and InVivo Dental, the company said.
TeraRecon said the system has recently received regulatory clearance in Japan, and will be sold in the U.S. once U.S. Food and Drug Administration clearance is received.
In other TeraRecon news, the company said that Sabine Nahme has joined the company as director of sales for its dental CBCT group. Nahme most recently was with dental CT developer NewTom USA.
