GE debuts new preclinical CT system

GE Healthcare has introduced eXplore CT 120, a preclinical CT scanner designed for cardiac disease and drug development research applications.

The scanner employs x-ray source technology derived from clinical systems, allowing for 100 times the output of previous GE laboratory research imaging offerings, according to the Chalfont St. Giles, U.K.-based vendor. The added power enables the system to capture the motion of a beating mouse heart, GE said.

The system also includes DICOM compatibility and an optional analysis workstation.
