R2 Technology

Sunnyvale, CA-based R2 Technology will exhibit ImageChecker DM, a digital CAD product built on the company’s OmniCAD operating system.

R2 Wom Although ImageChecker DM will initially support digital images acquired on the GE Senographe 2000D, future versions will also support other FFDM units, including those from Fischer Imaging, Hologic/Lorad, and Siemens Medical Solutions, as well as other mammography reporting companies and RIS providers. The system is FDA-cleared.

OmniCAD is R2’s migration to software-based, integrated CAD, and consists of an open-architecture platform that is DICOM-compatible and works with film and digital mammography as well as lung CT and other modalities. With OmniCAD, R2’s products will be able to address input from any modality and any vendor and apply an algorithm to improve detection of disease, according to R2.

The company will also present R2004, a new algorithm for ImageChecker DM that allows film-screen users to choose the CAD setting that best meets the needs of their practice, either maximizing CAD sensitivity or minimizing false positive marks. R2004 has received FDA clearance.

Finally, R2 will discuss its work on CAD for CT. Introduced in Europe in March, ImageChecker CT CAD with OmniCAD technology is a lung nodule detection and analysis system. The CAD algorithms mark suspicious areas and also enhance workflow with features such as automatic measurement and characterization of detected lung nodules, according to the company. This and other workflow enhancing tools have been cleared by the FDA; clearance for the CAD component is pending.
