Compact-ultrasound developer SonoSite of Bothell, WA, has launched a new remote control for veterinary ultrasound, as well as a new transducer for reproductive and musculoskeletal applications in horses and other large animals.
SonoRemote enables veterinarians to maintain a safe working distance from animals during examinations, SonoSite said. The control is based on Bluetooth wireless technology, can be activated by voice or touch, and can adjust system controls from within a radius of 10 meters. SonoRemote will begin shipping in the spring.
Meanwhile, the company's L52x/10-5 MHz transducer is the eighth transducer in SonoSite's suite of veterinary products, and is compatible with both the M-Turbo and S-VetMed compact scanners. The probe enables the examination of fine ovarian and uterine structures, as well as the lower lumbar and medial to lateral view of an animal's hip.
