Hologic revenues grow, but loss widens due to Trex acquisition

Medical imaging firm Hologic reported revenues of $27.1 million in its fourth quarter, a 35% gain over the $20.1 million posted in the same period in 1999.

For the quarter (end-September 30), the Bedford, MA-based firm had a net loss of $10.9 million, compared with a net loss of $3.2 million in the fourth quarter of 1999. Absent non-recurring, pre-tax charges of $13.3 million associated with its September acquisition of Trex Medical, Hologic would have had a net loss of $2.4 million.

For the fiscal year, Hologic had revenues of $93.7 million, up 11.4% from the $84.1 million posted in 1999. The company had a net loss, including acquisition-related charges, of $18.6 million, compared with a 1999 net loss of $3.7 million. In fiscal-2000, Hologic’s Direct Radiography subsidiary had a net loss of approximately $13 million.
