Hologic of Bedford, MA, reported that its fiscal 2006 first-quarter results indicated gains in sales and profitability.
For the period (end-December 24, 2005) revenues totaled $88 million, a 33% increase compared with revenues of $66.2 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2005. For the first quarter of fiscal 2006, Hologic reported net income of $5.7 million, compared with net income of $4.6 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2005.
The firm said the improvement in quarterly earnings primarily reflects the increase in product sales of its Selenia full-field digital mammography systems in the first quarter over the same period last year.
