Carestream to install PACS in Scotland

Rochester, NY-based Carestream Health has signed an access agreement with Lothian Health Board in Scotland that enables Carestream to begin installing its PACS technology at the health system.

The installation will take place as part of the U.K. National Health Service's ambitious program to install PACS and healthcare information technology at hospitals throughout the country. The NHS procurement body in Scotland, National Services Scotland, awarded Carestream (then Eastman Kodak Health Group) the prime contract for PACS in December 2005.

Carestream has already implemented PACS at four of the 15 Health Boards in Scotland. As the roll-out progresses, each Health Board is required to sign an access agreement to begin the implementation process. The NHS Lothian PACS is expected to go live toward the end of 2007.
