RSNA executive director dies

RSNA executive director Del Stauffer passed away on March 1 after apparently suffering a heart attack. Stauffer, who had led the RSNA since 1989, was 60. Under Stauffer's tenure, attendance at the annual RSNA Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting nearly doubled to more than 60,000; society membership grew from 23,000 to 30,000, and the RSNA's net assets increased from $6.8 million to $50 million, according to the society.

Stauffer led the society through a period of significant growth, and oversaw the expansion of the organization's annual scientific assembly, its publications, its Research and Education Foundation, as well as the opening of The Education Center and the Office of Research Development, according to the RSNA. Stauffer is survived by his wife, Mary, and two sons, Andrew and Matthew.
