Digirad Q1 results dip into red

Nuclear medicine firm Digirad posted higher revenues for the first quarter of 2008 due to an increase in mobile imaging service revenues, but the company slipped into the red for the period, the Poway, CA-based firm reported.

For the period (end-March 31), the company experienced a downturn in its products division, which it attributed to difficult market conditions during the quarter. Overall revenues for the period were $18.3 million, up 5% compared to $17.5 million in the first quarter of 2007. Digirad Imaging Solutions' revenue increased by 14%, from $12.2 million to $13.9 million, due to the company's launch of ultrasound imaging services.

The firm's net loss for the quarter was $1.4 million, compared to a net profit of $74,000 for the same period in 2007.
