Siemens Display Technologies of Karlsruhe, Germany, will be directing attention to a 3-megapixel color LCD and the firm's automated stability technology at the 2006 RSNA conference.

SCD 21310 is a 3-megapixel LCD suitable for color or hybrid medical imaging applications. The display features the vendor's automated stabilization system (see below) and five internal lookup tables. It can automatically calibrate itself to a calculated luminance level, according to Siemens Display.

2006 11 01 14 26 03 706Since all calibration data is stored directly in all Siemens displays, SCD 21310 doesn't need to be recalibrated when workstations, graphics controllers, or other components are replaced, or when the display's location or environmental lighting is changed, Siemens Display said.

The display offers a backlight lifetime of 50,000 hours and a three-year warranty on all display components. It also comes with a luminance warranty period of 10,000 hours.

Siemens Display is also emphasizing an automated stabilization system for its PACS display portfolio. The system consists of three independent sensor systems: Integrated Stability System (ISS), Integrated Consistency System (ICS), and Siemens' optional external verification photometers.

All of Siemens' PACS displays include ISS monitors and control luminance in accordance with DICOM and other applicable medical standards. ICS is included with some display models and provides independent verifications of grayscale consistency for particularly sensitive applications such as mammography, Siemens Display said. The external verification technology consists of optional external photometers used to validate the internal sensors and provide traceable verification of adherence to national standards.

Other components of the automated stabilization system include factory calibration, integrated lookup storage, and the company's SMfit ACT quality control provided with each display.
