ScImage readies RSNA launches

PACS vendor ScImage will bring a range of new software introductions to next month's RSNA meeting in Chicago.

ScImage said it will spotlight a new cloud-based technical framework that features broad enterprise PACS functionality. A cloud-based order management capability will feature integrated scheduling and a built-in modality worklist engine, according to the Los Altos, CA-based vendor.

The framework also encompasses cloud-based image analysis, bidirectional reporting, and automated, multipoint report distribution, ScImage said. Clinical image and report objects will be distributed via ScImage's PicomWeb application.

ScImage said it will also debut "virtualization" technologies aimed at facilitating a consolidated reading and reporting environment for multiple, otherwise-independent institutions. Global ReportBank and the Web-based ReportBank Explorer enable automated or on-demand access to clinical data in prior reports, the company said.

In other introductions, ScImage will unveil enhancements to its enterprise RIS/PACS platform, including single-key access to an entire "reading packet" for the radiologist. The company said it has also improved the flexibility of its hanging protocols, including definitions based on CPT codes for access to prior studies and an advanced study preparation tool.

ScImage will also present a new obstetric imaging and reporting package for PicomEnterprise PACS. The OB package includes image analysis tools, measurement captures, and Web-enabled structured reporting, the vendor said.

In cardiology PACS developments, ScImage said it has upgraded its structured reporting functionality to include specialty segments for adult and pediatric echocardiography, heart catheterization, nuclear medicine, and cardiac CT. PicomEnterprise users can now also access 2D and 3D visualization functionality for echocardiography studies.

Another new feature, Picom Clinical Information Management, provides an enterprise database for acquiring and disseminating clinical data throughout the enterprise, according to the vendor. ScImage will also present new features on its PicomECG management system.
