Swissray plans DR launch at RSNA

Digital radiography (DR) developer Swissray International of East Brunswick, NJ, plans to launch a new DR system based on an amorphous silicon flat-panel detector at the upcoming RSNA meeting in Chicago.

The company's ddRElement system will include Swissray's new 17 x 17-inch amorphous silicon detector with a cesium iodide scintillator. The system will also feature the firm's eXpert/SwissVision workflow software.

In other RSNA news, Swissray plans to introduce eXpertStitching, a software application that can be integrated into Swissray DR units for orthopedic applications. The software enables users to stitch up to four images and allows the viewing of a single image.

With Swissray's single-focus stitching technique, the position of the x-ray source remains fixed with respect to the patient over the time sequence of images, ensuring that overlap regions are geometrically equivalent and resulting in identical images for the same anatomy and essentially distortion-free images, according to the company.
