The Mayo Clinic in Arizona Department of Radiology is accepting applications for the Abdominal/Body Radiology fellowship, a one-year, non-Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited program. We have two available fellowship positions for the 2024-25 academic year, but also have one position for the 2023-24 year.
As a fellow, you will work closely with abdominal radiology experts, to gain the appropriate skills and knowledge necessary for a successful career in private or academic clinical practices with special emphasis on diseases of the gastrointestinal and genitourinary systems. At Mayo Clinic, the 12-month academic year for your clinical training in the Abdominal/Body Radiology Fellowship program is divided into 13 four-week blocks. While we do expect fellows to spend a large majority of their time in abdominal MRI, abdominal CT, and US, the fellowship program does allow some opportunity for elective time to be spent outside of the abdominal radiology subspecialty (e.g., cardiothoracic imaging, nuclear medicine [e.g., oncologic PET]), but this time may also be spent within the abdominal radiology subspecialty (GI fluoroscopy, additional abdominal MRI, CT, and US). Fellows in the past have used this opportunity to gain more confidence in a specific area of weakness or to sharpen skills needed for a future job opportunity. Prospective fellows are encouraged to discuss this with the program director.
During the fellowship, fellows participate in several recurring multidisciplinary conferences that afford close cooperative interaction with outstanding medical, surgical and pathology colleagues. These include hepatobiliary, colorectal, pancreatic, GU and GYN tumor boards as well as endometriosis and enteric conferences.
