The Department of Radiology at UTMB – At UTMB, all cardiac, chest and musculoskeletal CT and MRI is performed and interpreted by radiologists. Infrastructure of the Radiology Department includes many multidetector CT scanners, PET/CT, and multiple high field MR systems. UTMB also has a newly renovated hospital which contains a high-speed CT scanner and a 3T intraoperative MRI available for imaging and research. A second UTMB hospital located in League City, contains both UTMB and MD Anderson cancer facilities collaborating on cancer screening, diagnosis, and treatment. UTMB recently opened a third 200-bed hospital in the Clear Lake area (near NASA Space Center), with active programs in cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, and orthopedics.

Interested candidates must be certified by the American Board of Radiology, have excellent clinical and interpersonal skills, demonstrated abilities for teaching and a strong interest or background in academic radiology. Fellowship training or prior academic experience preferred but not required. In response to the recent pandemic, the Radiology Department has restructured imaging interpretation and teaching workflows. Now, all faculty Radiologists will have PACS stations at home and negotiate with the department the percentage of time spent interpreting in the hospital versus at home. Faculty Radiologists may also opt for near-100% work at home, as long as the faculty member has an active state of Texas Medical license. In addition, the teaching portion of the position may also be done in-person or remotely, using the Departments online platform.
