Interventional Radiology Faculty: IR/DR Program Director
The Department of Radiology www.umassmed.edu/radiology at UMass Memorial Medical Center (UMMMC), the clinical partner of the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Worcester, MA is recruiting an ABR/CAQ eligible/certified interventional radiologist to join our Interventional Radiology (IR) division. There is also an opportunity for the successful candidate to serve as the program director for our IR/DR residency program. We are looking for an energetic, detail oriented, applicant who is enthusiastic about education.
UMMMC is the primary academic medical center, tertiary referral center and safety-net hospital for approximately 1 million people in central Massachusetts and is a Level 1 Trauma Center with 95,000 ED visits/year. UMMMC also supports a children's hospital which is the major provider of complex pediatric care in Massachusetts outside of Boston and is one of New England's most prominent liver transplant centers. The department of Radiology performs approximately 750,000 exams per year, is staffed by 70 clinical and 20 research faculty members, 20 residents, and 9 fellows and supports an integrated network of 4 community hospitals.
The IR division is comprised of 6 fellowship-trained IR faculty, 2 body-trained faculty who performed CT and US guided procedures, and 14 APPs who both perform image guided procedures and assist with the initial evaluation and post-procedure management of IR patients.
Our mission is to provide complete IR services that are dependable and accountable through intellectual vibrancy and technological innovation. The IR division has close, productive collaborations with vascular surgery, oncology, and trauma, performing over 1,600 procedures per year, in addition to 2,200 vascular access procedures. The IR division also works closely with our NeuroInterventional Radiology (NIR) team of 4 NIR Radiology faculty who perform a wide array of complex NIR procedures in 2 additional Philips biplane rooms, in support of our comprehensive stroke center.

The IR division supports the two campuses of UMass Memorial Medical Center with the following equipment: Allura- FD 20 (Memorial), Philips Single plane FD 20 (University), and a brand new Azurion Single plane Flex-arm (University). In addition, there are mobile C-arms at both the Memorial and University campuses for venous access and small procedures.
Dedicated to research in the medical school, there is a 10,000 square foot facility with a strong focus on image guided surgery. The center includes 2 single plane, fixed IR rooms (Allura FD20 and an Azurion), a 3T Ingenia large bore MRI scanner, a small-bore Bruker 7T MR instrument, an MI Labs PET/SPECT/CT unit, a Nano SPECT/CT, two IVIS scanners, a Li-Cor Pearl Fluorescence imager, and a Vevo 3100 ultrasound unit.
Located in Central Massachusetts, Worcester is the second largest city in Massachusetts and in New England. Worcester and the surrounding area have a strong and diverse economic base with family-oriented communities offering excellent school systems which are all easily accessible. Many faculty live in Boston or the western Boston suburbs and enjoy a short, traffic-free reverse commute to Worcester.
