UMass Memorial Medical Center, the clinical partner of the University of Massachusetts Medical School, is seeking ABR certified radiologist with fellowship training in breast imaging. The Department of Radiology, [www.umassmed.edu/radiology], comprised of 65 faculty, 20 residents, 9 fellows and 15 PhD's, performs approximately 750,000 imaging studies per year across multiple sites in central Massachusetts. The department's IT platform is fully integrated with a new AGFA PACS and enterprise-wide EPIC EMR.
Join a busy existing group of 10 breast imagers, and one breast imaging fellow, in a NAPBC approved Comprehensive Breast Center, and ACR designated centers of excellence (academic and community sites). We currently perform diagnostic studies and breast intervention procedures at 4 different sites in central MA. The breast imaging section currently provides clinical services to the academic facility of the UMass Medical School, two community hospitals at Marlborough and Leominster and other outreach satellite locations. There are plans to expand our services to other community sites. Currently 45,000 mammograms, 5,000 dedicated breast ultrasounds, 800 breast MRIs and 4,000 interventional procedures are performed annually. The environment is completely digital and includes 3T and 1.5T MRI suites, seven tomosynthesis units, eight non tomosynthesis units (all Hologic and plans to upgrade some of these units), six ultrasound suites (Philips IU 22, all these units are being updated to EPIQ Elite Diagnostic Ultrasound Systemin a phased manner), including an ABUS suite (GE Invenia 2.0), and an upright Affirm unit for 3D biopsies and two prone LORADS tables. Our needle localizations at the main university campus are mostly wire free (Savi-Scout).
Candidates must be able to perform the full range of breast imaging and interventions. Work locations will be split primarily between UMass Memorial Medical Center, and the community hospitals. There are numerous research, clinical and resident/fellow teaching opportunities, including participation in NIH funded (R01) research. UMass is also a participating site for the TMIST trial.
