UMass Memorial Medical Group, the clinical partner of the University of Massachusetts Medical School, is seeking ABR and Neuroradiology CAQ certified clinician/scientist to lead the Division of Neuroradiology. Candidates should be eligible for appointment at the level of Associate or Professor of Radiology, and qualified for consideration for term tenure: https://umassmed.edu/ofa/governance-policies/academic-personnel-policy/ . A research focus in neurodegenrative diseases is desirable.



The Department of Radiology at UMass Memorial Medical Center www.umassmed.edu/radiology performs over 1 million studies per year, across five hospitals and an outpatient imaging center. Current faculty include 65+ fellowship trained Radiologists, all practicing in organ or modality-based divisions, and a 24/7/365 Emergency Radiology Division. The department trains 5 Residents per year (20 total).


The department has an enterprise-wide PACS system (AGFA and TeraRecon), as well as EPIC EMR. The main department and outpatient imaging center in Worcester have 6 MRIs (including a new GE Pioneer 3T system), 7 CTs, including a Siemens “flash” and two Siemens 128 Definition Edge CTs.


The Neuroradiology division interprets over 55,000 studies per year. The Division is currently comprised of 9 faculty members. There are 2 ACGME accredited Neuroradiology fellowship positions, two NIR fellows and an “MRI” fellow who devotes 50% effort to neuroradiology. Areas of clinical focus at UMass include:


  • Endovascular treatment of stroke
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • ALS
  • Tay Sachs and Huntington's Disease
  • State-of-the-art gene therapy trails
  • Large animal models for pre-clinical gene therapy


The neuroradiology divisions work in close collaboration with our internationally recognized Neurointerventional division (NIR) which is comprised of four faculty and is supported by a robust NIH and industry funded research program via our New England Center for Stroke Research (NECStR), MRI research core with a 3T Philips MRI and 7T Bruker small animal MRI, and Image Processing Core lab. In addition, we have close collaboration with both Neurology and Neurosurgery.


UMass Memorial Health Care is the largest health care system in Central Massachusetts and the Comprehensive Stroke Center for central Massachusetts, covering over 1 million patients. We are the clinical partner of UMass Medical School, with access to the latest technology, research and clinical trials. In addition to our fully equipped medical centers, our system also includes home health and hospice programs, behavioral health programs and community-based physician practices.
