Abdominal Imaging Fellow
Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals
Abdominal Imaging Fellow

Brief Description: 2020-2021 Abdominal Imaging Fellowship: Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, PA

We are currently recruiting for a single position in our Abdominal Imaging Fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (TJUH) for the June 2020-June 2021 academic year. Our ACGME accredited fellowship trains future leaders in the field of radiology in both academic and private practice settings. TJUH serves as an ideal training institution, as we are both a Level 1 trauma center in the Philadelphia region as well as an NCI-designated cancer center. Our fellowship consists of MR, CT, Ultrasound, biopsies, and elective time with potential for customized training according to the fellow’s needs. We conduct many high-level body MRI scans (~10000) per year including MR enterography, MR prostate, MR elastography, and MR rectal cancer staging. CT studies (~30000) includes advanced imaging such as CT angiography, CT Urography, CT colonography, dual energy CT, and multiphasic imaging of the liver/pancreas/kidneys. Over 60000 high level ultrasound studies are performed each year, with opportunity to interpret vascular ultrasound, prostate imaging, pelvic ultrasound, and contrast enhanced ultrasound. We have a robust biopsy service, with image guided liver, renal, lung, and thyroid biopsies performed daily. Additional procedures include paracentesis, thoracentesis, and image guided ablation of renal/liver tumors. Education of our fellows is of utmost importance, and includes a summer lecture series, multidisciplinary conferences, biweekly didactic conferences and weekly case conferences. Several moonlighting opportunities are available. An educational stipend is also given for books, travel to a conference, and participation in Jefferson’s yearly Leading Edge conference in Atlantic City.  We also have a large network in place for job placement.

Philadelphia is a great, liveable city with amazing food, cultural, and urban activities. We are close to both NYC and Washington DC by car, train, or bus. The city is very affordable, and is a great place to train and raise a family.

Requirements: Candidates must have successfully completed an accredited residency in Diagnostic Radiology.
