EOS nets FDA clearance for new version of hipEOS

Orthopedic imaging technology developer EOS Imaging has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for version 3.0 of its hipEOS surgical planning software for total hip arthroplasty.

Part of the vendor's EOSapps online 3D surgical planning software suite, hipEOS 3.0 simulates the range of motion of a patient's hip based on functional standing and seated exams acquired on an EOS system. Physicians can then visualize and anticipate impingement and dislocation risks based on the position of the implant components, EOS said.
