Thales debuts new DR subsystem

Digital x-ray developer Thales has debuted ArtPix, a next-generation digital radiography (DR) subsystem targeted at the mobile x-ray retrofit market.

The software application features a customizable graphical user interface and a modular architecture to allow users to adjust workflow based on their needs. ArtPix uses the company's Pixium 3543 Wi-Fi detector and incorporates remote operator control devices via the HTML5 standard, Thales said. The software can be run on a laptop, workstation, or tablet.

ArtPix will come in two configurations, the first of which combines an application running on a tablet PC with an autodetection-enabled Wi-Fi 3543 EZ flat-panel detector. This provides users at the bedside with complete autonomy, Thales said.

The second configuration features a dedicated device that will enable previewing and accepting of images, followed by transmitting, analyzing, and postprocessing of images on a dedicated workstation. Users will be able to perform a complete round of exams with this configuration, according to the company.

Thales showcased ArtPix at last week's RSNA 2013 in Chicago, and it plans to release ArtPix soon for retrofit rooms and for integration in new DR systems. It will support all Pixium DR detectors.
