Hologic is highlighting a study that found its BioZorb 3D tissue marker to be a safe adjunct to breast-conserving surgery and radiation therapy in patients with breast cancer.

BioZorb 3D consists of six titanium clips that mark the surgical excision site and target the radiation therapy site, and it is designed to be absorbed into the body over the course of a year.

The study tracked 24-month outcomes following implantation of the marker during surgery, with more than 90% of participants reporting "good-to-excellent long-term cosmetic outcomes with low adverse effects," the company said.

The study results were published November 21 in the Annals of Surgical Oncology.
