FDA stops Fla. center from performing mammograms

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has ordered a Florida radiology center to stop performing mammograms and notify patients who underwent mammography there between the middle of 2016 and April of this year, according to a report from NBC 6.

The FDA directed Lakes Radiology II in Sunrise to stop performing mammograms on April 19, stating that the exams did not meet image quality standards set by American College of Radiology (ACR) accreditation.

The center has sent letters to its patients advising them to have their mammograms reviewed to determine if a repeat exam is necessary, NBC 6 said.
