SonoSite wins patent case

Handheld ultrasound technology developer SonoSite has won a patent infringement lawsuit filed against the firm by patent-holding company Neutrino Development.

The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, Houston Division, has granted SonoSite's motion for summary judgment against Neutrino, according to the Bothell, WA-based vendor. Based on the holding of invalidity, the court reversed its earlier finding that SonoSite had infringed Neutrino's patent, SonoSite said.

In its ruling yesterday, the court found Neutrino improperly amended the patent in violation of U.S. patent law, SonoSite said. In a final judgment, the court dismissed Neutrino's claims and causes of action with prejudice, according to SonoSite.
