Point-of-care ultrasound developer Butterfly Network has announced that Dr. Todd Fruchterman, PhD, will become president and CEO of the company after its merger with Longview Acquisition.

Butterfly said in November that it planned to go public on the New York Stock Exchange through a merger with Longview Acquisition in a deal valued at $1.5 billion. Longview is scheduled to have a stockholder meeting on February 12, with the deal expected to close immediately after approval.

Fruchterman comes to Butterfly after 10 years at 3M Company, most recently as president and general manager of the company's Medical Solutions Division. Before that, he served in executive roles at Kinetic Concepts, Johnson & Johnson, Schering-Plough, and Response Genetics.

Butterfly's previous CEO, Laurent Faracci, stepped down over the weekend, the company said.
