Mass. university debuts sono lab with Esaote help

MCPHS University is opening a new diagnostic medical sonography lab in Worcester, MA, in collaboration with ultrasound vendor Esaote.

MCPHS will dedicate the new department on October 8. It includes a classroom, offices, and a sonography lab; the lab will be the platform for training students in two new programs: adult echocardiography and general sonography.

The institution, formerly known as the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, will also soon open two other programs in vascular sonography and musculoskeletal sonography, according to Esaote.

As part of the collaboration with Esaote, MCPHS faculty members will have full access to Esaote's resources to continue their education and keep current with new technologies, Esaote said.

In addition, the institution acquired two MyLab Alpha laptop-based ultrasound systems and 10 MyLab Twice systems. Each MyLab Twice unit includes a traditional cart-based system plus an independent point-of-care tablet, Esaote said.
