Montage bids for iVirtuoso, teams with Nuance

Radiology data mining and performance measurement software developer Montage Healthcare Solutions has signed a letter of intent to acquire iVirtuoso, the owner of medical imaging search engine Yottalook.

The combined company will give users the ability to search and mine their own radiology and pathology report libraries, as well as conduct analogous, external Internet-based searches, according to the Philadelphia-based firm. The deal is expected to be completed by the end of 2010.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Yottalook users will see no change in their free Internet-search capabilities, the companies said.

In other Montage news, the company has formed a collaboration with speech recognition and software developer Nuance Communications of Burlington, MA. Via the relationship, Nuance radiology customers will be able to access new search and text mining capabilities for their radiology reports.
