CompuGroup Medical interested in acquiring Agfa

Agfa reports acquisition interest from German healthcare IT software developer, CompuGroup Medical.

News reports on October 28 indicated that CompuGroup Medical was interested in acquiring Agfa-Gevaert Group, parent company of Agfa HealthCare. Agfa also maintains businesses in the printing industry.

An article published by Reuters quoted CompuGroup as stating it had forwarded Agfa's board of directors a nonbinding indication of interest in acquiring the company. The article quoted CompuGroup as stating that "discussions between the companies are at an early stage," and it had not received a response from Agfa.

In an October 28 press release, Agfa acknowledged it has been approached by CompuGroup, and its board and financial and legal advisers "will carefully evaluate CompuGroup's expression of interest."

CompuGroup maintains offices in Koblenz, Germany, as well as a U.S. headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. The company posted annual revenues of 535 euros ($594 million) for its most recent year, with operating profit of 112 million euros ($124 million).
