Agfa readies new product enhancements for HIMSS 2016

Agfa HealthCare will feature its Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software platform at next month's Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) annual meeting in Las Vegas.

Not currently available in the U.S., ECM provides a host of features such as generic content management, clinical content management, process management, long-term archiving, business management and document management workflows, specific functionalities, and a special design for the clinical environment, according to the vendor. Employing a standards-based architecture for service-oriented architecture (SOA) environments as well as many interfaces, ECM offers comprehensive interoperability with IT systems in general as well as all kinds of clinical information systems, Agfa said.

What's more, customers can use ECM's integrated scanning modules to become paperless, the vendor said. Compliant with the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) Cross-Enterprise Document Sharing (XDS) framework, ECM can be utilized in regional health projects, Agfa said.

Agfa will also showcase its Enterprise Imaging platform as well as its recently launched Portal, which offers a patient-centric overview of patient information compiled from different sources and available inside or outside the hospital, according to the company. Patients can use Portal to download and upload their own health information, while physicians can use the portal's "clinical view" to gain access to aggregated patient health data. Portal can be implemented by departments or across the healthcare enterprise and can be integrated with Agfa's Enterprise Imaging platform or its Orbis and ECM health management systems.
